Good quality, enjoyable and safe play for children requires planning. Children are consulted regarding activity choices with their thoughts and ideas being the forefront of our minds. With the support of qualified playworkers, they can become more confident in their abilities and have less trepidation than the day before. The children have flexibility in the choice of activities they wish to participate in and have wide access to outdoor space. Outdoor space offers many opportunities for creative play and enhanced experiences that may be restricted indoors. Both indoor and outdoor activities incorporate the playwork curriculum and promote inclusion. Penarth out of school club was formed in 1990 to meet the increasing demand for childcare for the older child 5-12years. Penarth breakfast club (7.30-9am) offers a relaxed environment where children can enjot what they like doing best and an afternoon club where they can unwind after a day at school playing with their friends and participating in activities without adult intervention. School drop off and pick up services include Sully, Evenlode and Victoria schools. Younger out of school club children 4-5years who are usually accommodated in our nursery facility will soon be able to join our older age group whilst outside as plans are in place for an outdoor classroom. The classroom will have a range of art & craft, messy play, role play and educational activities etc. The children will also have acces to the trampoline, climbing frame and outdoor activities on offer in the garden. Both age groups will be able to socialise and this will aid transfers upstairs when they reach 5 years old.
