Cowbridge

Situated in a unique location on the southern side of the High Street with Cowbridge town centre. It is immediately adjoining the Civic Gardens, the Town Library and within the old Town Walls.

The nursery is set in 0.53 acres and is a single storey building just a couple of minutes walk to the shops adjacent to the cattle market with its own designated car parking spaces. The ethos and feel of the nursery is to be bright, colourful and welcoming yet warm, cosy and homely filled with fun and imagination with learning experiences in every corner.

The nursery has been built with three approximate age groups in mind – babies (0-18 months), toddlers (18mths – 2 1/2 years) and nursery age children (2 1/2 years until they go to school). Naturally the children will guide us as to when they are ready to move along to the next level and so we will personalize each transfer when the time come to suit the needs of each child in our care. Every child is unique and so will be their requirements be.

The baby unit is split into two age categories, each offering self -contained areas for our little friends. The younger baby area for our smallest of friends is complete with a spacious play area, a tranquil cot / sleep room feeding area and messy room. The areas are filled with play opportunities to excite and captivate the young mind and nurture their early development.

When they are more mobile the babies will venture into the older baby room that is complete with messy areas, role play kitchen, reading corner and play areas freely available to them to guide their own learning and access what is interesting to them.

Large patio doors open onto the luscious lawned garden so fresh air is readily available to them. Children in both baby units regularly enjoy visits into the local community through rides in the turtle bus – the 6 seater nursery pushchair!

Once they are ready, they will move along to their next stage in the toddler unit.

Brimming with play opportunities including home play areas, quiet areas, book corners, messy play corners to make lots of mess and much more. They have their very own little toilets to begin those all important toilet training steps when they feel ready.

Until that point nappy changing facilities can be found in the unit. The toddler unit adopt the principles of the new curriculum for Wales and learning through play allowing the children to freely roam between the areas of learning and developing their skills in a fun and exciting way yet at their own pace. Doors lead into the large garden to the rear and the children can access the front garden complete with pirate climbing frame, messy play areas, benches and lawned hills.

At approximately two and a half they will move on to their big nursery where the children can access their home corner, building areas, libraries, art and craft areas, sand and water play, dough areas, mark making and many more. The curriculum for Wales framework will guide the staff to plan exciting and stimulating experiences for the children to explore every day whilst listening and responding to their learning needs.

We have aimed to achieve a home from home feeling to the nursery so that the children feel comfortable and secure enough to explore and learn from all the experiences we can offer them. At the end of their day they will come home with many a tale to tell and worn out from their challenges of their day. It is then that we know they’ve had a good day!

Doors from all units lead out into the spacious gardens so that the indoors and outdoors are close together and the children can explore their surroundings. The gardens are equipped with a climbing pirate ship, bikes and trikes and vegetable and herb gardens, mud kitchen, construction area and a life like animal farm. On days when the weather is not so good we have created a wonderful covered outdoor play area for the children to explore together under the cover of a tee pee!
