St Aubin Roath

Situated in the vibrant community of Roath, St Aubin Roath provides a warm, welcoming and stimulating environment where children can feel happy, secure and supported throughout their early years.

The nursery offers thoughtfully arranged spaces for babies, toddlers and nursery-aged children, with each area designed to encourage learning, exploration and development through play and age-appropriate activities.

Our experienced and caring team works closely with families to create a nurturing home-from-home atmosphere, helping every child to build confidence, develop new skills and enjoy each stage of their early learning journey.

With a strong emphasis on individual care, social development and learning through play, St Aubin Roath provides a positive and engaging environment where every child is encouraged to grow and thrive at their own pace.

The nursery has use of two floors in a detached house situated in a quiet residential area, with no private accommodation on site.

The ethos and feel of the nursery is to be bright, colourful and welcoming yet warm, cosy and homely filled with fun and imagination with learning experiences in every corner.

The nursery has been adapted with three approximate age groups in mind – babies (0-2 years), toddlers (2-3 years) and nursery age children (3 years until they go to school). Naturally the children will guide us as to when they are ready to move along to the next level and so we will personalize each transfer when the time come to suit the needs of each child in our care. Every child is unique and so will be their requirements be.

Babies are looked after on the first floor, in three bright and airy playrooms, with a quiet sleeping area assigned to one of the rooms. Home to up to 12 babies, upstairs provides plenty of space to move around and a deep pile carpet to cushion the falls of those first tentative steps. All our staff are specially chosen so that the every need of your little treasures are met. Whilst in our baby unit, the babies enjoy their very own programme of activities such as painting or messy play. Their masterpieces are displayed around the unit for you to marvel at their first pieces of work and then can be taken home to treasure forever.

There is also a kitchen area for the preparation of bottles and a baby changing area with hand washing facilities. We aim to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where babies can learn, explore, relax and socialise in a secure setting with a
professionally qualified and settled staff group. We never underestimate the amount of care, love and attention that babies and young children need to grow, feel secure and be happy.

The babies also enjoy frequent walks to local parks and within the local community. This which provides them with the all important fresh air that they need for a healthy development as well as developing a sense of belonging and knowledge and
understanding of the world around us.

Meal times in the baby unit are used to provide those initial social stages. Learning from each other we believe and recognise the importance of group feeding times and therefore the children will use each other as their learning tools.

Children over two use 3 rooms within the toddler unit which they can naturally free flow between areas enabling them to make choices, explore their curiosity and gain independence. The areas are filled with play opportunities to excite and captivate the young mind and nurture their early development.

They have their very own little toilets to begin those all important toilet training steps when they feel ready. Until that point nappy changing facilities can be found in the unit. The toddler unit adopt the principles of the curriculum for Wales and learning through play allowing the children to freely roam between the areas of learning and developing their skills in a fun and exciting way yet at their own pace. Patio doors in two rooms lead into the large garden complete with climbing frames, messy play areas, benches, mud kitchens, construction areas, planters and much more! The layout naturally lends itself to enable indoor/outdoor play so that the children can freely explore what the varying environments have to offer.

St. Aubin Roath is blessed with a large garden space complete with mud kitchen, growing spaces, hard surface for bikes and a separate baby garden so the little ones can enjoy the outdoors all throughout the day. A large outdoor classroom at the bottom of the garden allows the children to explore another learning environment in all weathers with activities being planned for both indoors and outdoors. A range of floor textures offer depth to their play.

The children also enjoy planned visits outside the confines of the nursery building to places such as the local parks, police stations or such like. This allows them to appreciate their natural surroundings and explore what goes on outside of their nursery life. Naturally these visits will take place taking safety precautions and all children will wear wrist straps or reigns when outside of the nursery building.

As your little one grows, the time will come where you will begin to think about their transition to the local schools and state nurseries. In St. Aubin Roath, we are able to support this next stage by providing full wrap around care for your little one so that they can access their funded provision during your working day.

Currently we provide full wrap around care for St Peters RC Primary School, Marlborough Primary and Stacey Primary for both the drop off s and collection for their sessions.

We are able to support your child’s transition into the local state provisions to access their funded provision when they reach their 3rd birthday.
