About Us
At St Aubin Nurseries, we are passionate about creating happy, nurturing environments where every child feels safe, valued and inspired to learn, play and grow. The St Aubin Nurseries journey began in 1990, when I purchased my first nursery in Penarth.
At the time, I was working as a childminder and struggling to find suitable childcare for my little boy, who had additional needs. I wanted to create somewhere truly inclusive—somewhere every child would be welcomed, valued and made to feel special.
What began with a small group of little friends gradually grew. Over the years, the children filled every corner of our beautiful Victorian building with laughter, learning and play. As they grew older, we opened an out-of-school club so they could continue to enjoy the familiar, caring St Aubin environment after school and during the holidays.
In 1998, St Aubin Romilly Park was born. From the moment I walked through the doors, I knew it was a special place. The nursery had a wonderfully close-knit, family atmosphere, supported by a team who were deeply committed to maintaining that warm and welcoming feeling. That sense of family remains at the heart of Romilly Park today.
A few years later, we opened an out-of-school club within the park, giving older children a fun and familiar place to spend time before and after school and during the holidays.
In 2004, I accompanied a friend who was considering purchasing three nurseries in Canton. When we arrived at one of the settings, a little girl approached me and asked whether I had come to play with her. She took my hand and led me into the playroom, where I noticed a painting of an apple tree on the wall—remarkably similar to the tree in the St Aubin logo.
Surrounded by children eager for me to stay and play, I felt as though it was meant to be. When my friend decided not to proceed, I took on the exciting challenge of welcoming three Cardiff nurseries into the St Aubin family. Over the years, they have grown and developed into wonderful settings of which I am incredibly proud.
In the spring of 2011, an estate agent contacted me about the former health centre in Cowbridge. I went to view the building, immediately fell in love with its potential and decided to purchase it there and then.
Transforming the building into a warm, inspiring nursery required a great deal of imagination and hard work. Walls were removed, spaces were redesigned and new areas were created with the children’s needs at the centre of every decision. In May 2011, St Aubin Cowbridge officially opened its doors.
My nurseries have always been my lifelong passion. My dream has remained the same since the very beginning: to create magical, nurturing environments where children feel safe, loved and excited to explore the world around them.
Although St Aubin has grown into a family of nurseries and out-of-school clubs, we remain one close-knit team. Every member of staff has an important part to play in giving each child the very best possible start in life.
We care for every child as an individual, celebrate what makes them special and work closely with their families throughout their journey with us—because every child deserves the very best we can give.
